Being the third son to his rich noble father, Kyoya grew up believing that he had to surpass both of his brothers in order to obtain his father's approval. Because of this, he is the Host Club's vice-president. He runs everything behind the scenes to make sure that everything runs smoothly. He is not very personable at times, but is a very good friend when push comes to shove. Working with Tamaki, his best friend, makes him into a more caring and all together more humanistic.

Often thought of to be the Host with the "Cool" demeanor, Kyoya is calm and leavel-headed with unsurpassed intelligence on his side. Kyoya enjoys sleeping late, due to his schoolwork and club financial work keeping him up into the wee hours of the morning most nights. When he is waken up loudly or too early for his taste he tends to be rather violent and has an evil demeanor due to his lack of sleep. He tends to act as though he is only polite and helpful to people that are in people or related to it. However, he tends to act like Tamaki by helping people just to be a good person, though he prefers to keep an indifferent facade.
